EVA-Nokia Seminar

The annual Nokia-EVA seminar was held on September 30th at Nokia Headquarters and hosted by Executive Vice President Mr. Matti Alahuhta . The event was organised in co-operation with the Finnish Prime Minister’s Office and the Research Institute of the Finnish Economy (ETLA).

The main speaker of the seminar was Professor John Zysman from the University of California, Berkeley. Mr Zysman, who is also co-director of Berkeley Roundtable on the International Economy (BRIE) held a fascinating presentation titled “Can Wealthy Countries Stay Wealthy? Adding Value in the Digital Age”. He spoke about the historical phases of production and consumption, product differentiation in the digital age, and knowledge management. He focused on the implications the changing global economy has and is yet to have on Finland.

Reflective comments to Mr. Zysman’s lecture were given by Doctor Anne Brunila, Director General at the Finnish Ministry of Finance as well as by Doctor Pekka Himanen from the Helsinki Institute for Information Technology.
