In search of modern times – Finland’s digital future

EVAs newest report “In search of Modern Times – Finland’s Digital Future” is demanding the state to take action in order to save the Finnish information society. The report is written by Mr Teppo Turkki, Communications Director, Sitra, in collaboration with the steering group. Members of the steering group are Mr Risto Siilasmaa (chair), CEO, F-Secure, Mr Pekka Ala-Pietilä, CEO, Blyk, Ms Sari Baldauf, Master of Economics and Matti Lehti, Chancellor of Helsinki School of Economics.

The report points out that according to the most essential indicators Finland is no longer on the cutting edge of the information society development. The fact is, however, that without well-functioning online services we’re not going to be able to face the challenges posed by aging population, financial crisis and globalisation. The report contains several recommendations for the public sector on how to produce growth. The practises are multiple, but the most important are the creation of integrated information systems architecture and improving online services supply.

The report is available only in Finnish.
