Opening Windows to the World- EVA’s 2006 Attitude and Value Survey

“Opening Windows to the World” is the latest in EVA´s series of attitude surveys that began in 1985. The present volume concentrates on Finns´ opinions on international affairs, inter alia globalisation, the European Union, relations with Russia, defence and security policy,
environmental issues, and terrorism.

The Finns see the effects of globalisation in a fairly positive light. This is especially true with respect to the phenomenon´s impact on the world as a whole, and on the less-developed countries in particular. With regard to Finland, the attitudes are rather less optimistic, although even in this case a plurality of the respondents see advantages rather than drawbacks.
